Multiplication games that will teach your child:
8's
Okay 8's -- the bad news: "tricks" or multiplication games to figure out the 6's, 7's and 8's are scarce. But, look at what we already know:
(1). So far we know 0's, 1's, 2's,3's,4's,5's,6's, 7's that means we know: 8x0, 8x1, 8x2, 8x3, 8x4, 8x5, 8x6, 8x7.
(2). Later you will learn strategies for : 9's, 10's, 11's, and 12'.
(3). That leaves us with one problem: 8x8
This poem will help your child remember 8 x 8:
8 x 8 Poem (It's gross, but kids remember it.)
I ate and I ate and threw up on the floor. Eight times eight is sixty-four!
If your child knows how to skip count by different numbers they will soar in many areas of math. It is sooo beneficial to learn to count by eights.
Here is a song to help:
To the tune of "Happy Birthday to You"
8's
8, 16, 24, ( Happy Birthday to you)
32 and 40 ( Happy Birthday to you)
48 and 56 (Happy Birthday to youuuuu)
64 ,72 ( Happy birthdayyyy to you)
Give your child lots of practice playing multiplication games using the strategy they like best.
